Reports have been flying around all off-season regarding where Dalvin Cook might land. From New England, to Los Angeles, to Miami, the entire league seems to have at least some interest in signing Dalvin Cook. Even the Viking’s quarterback Kirk Cousins hinted at a possible return to Minnesota. Now with reports of multiple offers on the table for the star running back where is he most likely to land?
Miami:
The Dolphins are the clear front-runner to win the Dalvin Cook Sweepstakes. Not only is Cook from the Miami area but he also called the Miami offense a “perfect fit” for his style of play. The Dolphin’s roster also suggests that they could greatly benefit from adding a stud running back. Currently, the Dolphins have a hodgepodge of backs on the roster including Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson, and an exciting rookie in Devon Achane. However, if they intend to make a deep playoff run this year, adding a highly competent back like Dalvin Cook would increase their odds.
Denver:
The Broncos are in an interesting spot at the running back position as well. They signed Samaje Perine this offseason to apparently add some depth to the position. They also have a potential workhorse back in Jevonte Williams but he is coming off an ACL injury. Without knowing William’s true potential or how he will recover is Dalvin Cook the solution for Denver? I don’t think so. Cook wants to win now, and if last season is any indication the Broncos are not prepared to do that.
New England:
With the exit of Damien Harris this off-season the Patriots could certainly use another talented running back on the roster. The problem with the Patriots is that they never have really had a great running back and they certainly have never added one through free agency. With an exceptional back in Rhamondre Stevenson already on the roster and Bill Belichick’s running back by committee scheme, it’s unlikely the Patriots are willing to invest the capital on Dalvin Cook.
Winner: Miami Dolphins
